ActivityLimekilns School Managers were established at a meeting held on 24 February 1862 of the inhabitants of Limekilns, Fife, to discuss the 'perplexing complaints and daily demands for larger school accommodation for the education and training of the young'. Money was raised by subscription in order to build a new and larger school at Limekilns. A committee was appointed to oversee the scheme. Land was purchased from the Earl of Elgin and Kincardine known as Ballast Bank in Limekilns and a school was duly erected in 1864. In 1873 the School Managers agreed to transfer the school to Dunfermline Landward School Board.
