ActivityThomas Stewart Patterson (1872-1949), chemist, was the son of T L Patterson, Greenock. He was educated at Greenock Academy, Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh, Glasgow Technical College, Heidelberg University, and Mason University College, Birmingham. Patterson became demonstrator and then assistant lecturer at Yorkshire College, Leeds, 1896-1904 and then lectured in Chemistry at Glasgow University until 1919. He married LizziePaterson and they had one son. Patterson was a governor of Merchiston Castle School, 1934-1942. He published papers in various scientific journals.
