Activity | William Angus Knight, LL D (1836-1916), Professor of Moral Philosophy, was the son of the Rev George Fulton Knight, Mordington. Knight was educated in Circus Place School, the High School, Edinburgh and Edinburgh University. He married Marry Landale (d 1915) and they had a son and a daughter. He was examiner to the Universities of St Andrews, 1871-1873; New Zealand, 1878; London, 1888-1899; Victoria, 1892-1895. Campbell was Professor of Moral Philosophy at St Andrews University, 1876-1902. He was awarded the LL D from Glasgow University andwas created Commander of the Order of the Saviour of Greece, 1910. Campbell's publications include: 'Poems from the Dawn of 'english Literature to the Year 1699' (1863); 'Stories and Rhymes of Golf' (1893); 'Some 19th Century Scotsmen' (1902); 'The Glamour of Oxford' (1911). |
