ActivityLasswade Joint Committee was a joint committee made up of members of Lasswade District Council and Lasswade Town Council. The scheme of administration drawn up by Midlothian County Council under the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1929 (19 & 20 Geo. V, c.25) delegated the discharge of poor law functions with reference to the poor or able-bodied unemployed to the relevant district council, or in the case of small burghs, joint committees. The functions of the Lasswade Joint Committee were transferred to central government under the National Assistance Act 1948 (11 & 12 Geo. VI, c.29).
