ActivityThe Glasgow Civic Society was constituted in 1896 and was still active in 1907. Its membership was drawn from various sectors of the community, including: Municipal; University; Clerical; Medical; Employers; Labour; and Business. Its aims were to promote better understanding of social subjects through discussion and lectures. Membership was not to exceed 100 and each member was to pay an annual subscription. The office-bearers were: President; Vice-president; 2 Secretaries; and a Treasurer, with an Executive Committee consisting of the 5 officers of the society and 10 ordinary members. The society was disbanded in 1907 due to unsatisfactory attendance.
