ActivityRev Dr David Douglas Bannerman (1842-1902), minister, was born in Ormiston, Midlothian, 1842, the son of James Bannerman (1807-1868), Professor of Apologetics and Pastoral Theology, Free Church of Scotland, New College, Edinburgh and the grandson of David Douglas, Lord Reston (1769-1819), who was Adam Smith’s nephew and heir. Bannerman was educated at the University of Edinburgh and New College, Edinburgh. He was ordained Minister of Dalkeith, 1869 and became the Cunningham Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, 1886. He gained the degree DD, University of Edinburgh, 1890. Bannerman was minister of St Leonard's, Free church of Scotland, Perth, 1879-1903.
