ActivityThe Aberdeen Local Board of the National Dock Labour Board was established in 1949: until then Aberdeen had been included in the East of Scotland Local Board. The Local Board consisted of three representatives of dock workers and three representatives of employers of dock workers. Its jurisdiction covered matters pertaining to labour supply, registration of dock workers and employers, training and welfare, non-registered labour, staff and general conditions. The National Dock Labour Board was abolished as a result of the Dock Work Act 1989 (c.13). The Act also abolished local boards at the same time.
