ActivityAberdeen Old People’s Welfare Council was formed as the result of a public meeting convened by Lord Provost Thomas Mitchell on 16 March 1945. The objectives of the Council were to study the problems of old age and to initiate measures to lessen the difficulties associated with old age. The Council embarked on a programme of visiting old people in their own homes, and establishing old people’s homes and club facilities on a site lying between South Anderson Drive, Broomhill Road and Station Road.
