Person NameNorth-East Scotland Joint Planning Advisory Committee; 1970-1975
ActivityThe North-East of Scotland Joint Planning Advisory Committee (NESJPAC) was set up in 1970 to coordinate planning in the North-East and, in conjunction with the Scottish Office, to set up a regional scheme for development. Its role was chiefly strategic, particularly with the appointment of a regional planning advisor in 1972 to report and advise on all aspects of planning in the region. The new two-tier system of local government, introduced in Scotland in 1975, led to complications in NESJPAC’s function and its advisory role was overtaken by regional regulations introduced by Grampian Regional Council. NESJPAC was effectively redundant and was wound up in 1975.
