ActivityMargaret Rust was born in Aberdeen in 1911. She was the daughter of a granite merchant, James Reid Rust, who served as Lord Provost of Aberdeen from 1929 to 1932. Graduating MA from Aberdeen University in 1933, and LLB in 1935, she was apprenticed to the Aberdeen firm of Hunter and Gordon, advocates. In 1938 she was appointed law assistant in the Town Clerk’s Department of the City Council. In 1955 she became archivist in the Department, a post she held until her retirement in 1972. She retired to Turriff, and died in 2000.
