ActivityIn 1954 the Highlands and Islands Advisory Council for Technical Education requested that consideration be given by the Education Authority to the establishment of pre-apprenticeship and day-release classes in Inverness. Inverness Technical College was opened in 1960 with only 5 full time staff. In 1969 the first College Hall of Residence was opened at Millburn and further halls were opened at Dalneigh and Drummond Park shortly afterwards. In 1970 the Longman Road College Extension was opened. By this time, over 2,500 students had enrolled at the college. In 1985 the college changed its name to the Inverness College of Further and Higher Education.
