ActivityMurdoch MacDonald (1866-1957) attended the former Farraline Park School, Inverness, which now houses Inverness Library. He became resident engineer for the construction of the Black Isle railway and founded the firm of Sir M. MacDonald and Partners, civil engineers, in 1921. In 1927 an Inverness office of the company was opened as part of a national operation. In 1989 Mott, Hay and Anderson, consulting civil engineers, merged with Sir M. MacDonald and Partners (Inverness) Ltd and formed the Mott MacDonald Group Ltd. Sir Murdoch MacDonald was involved in the construction of the Aswan Dam in Egypt from 1898 to 1957, in which year he died.
