Person NameDundee District Court; 1975-
ActivityDistrict Courts were established in 1975 to replace Burgh Police Courts. The District Courts (Scotland) Act 1975 (c.20) established district courts with wider powers, in which Justices of the Peace sit, with a legally qualified clerk to provide advice. District Courts deal only with criminal matters such as assault, breach of the peace, theft and road traffic offenses. The district courts are based on local authority areas and financed by the relevant local authority. Dundee District Court is now financed by Dundee City Council.
