ActivityThe congregation of Inchture and Kinnaird was formed by the amalgamation of Inchture and Kinnaird on 12 January 1941.Both church buildings continued to be used. Inchture as it was in 1941 was formed by the union of Inchture and Rossie on 22 August 1670. The church of Inchture and Kinnaird is in the Presbytery of Dundee, which was in the synod of Angus and Mearns until the abolition of synods in 1992.Inchture and RossieInchture church and Rossie church were dedicated or rededicated on 13 August 1243 to St Laurence and St Coman.Inchture church is situated in Main Street, The building was rebuilt in 1834 because it had hitherto been in a state of disrepair. Following a fire in 1890, a new church was erected in 1891 on the site of the former building. RossieThe church of Rossie (or Rossinclerach] was dedicated to St Coman of Tyrconnell but there was a later dedication or rededication to St Laurence and St Coman in 1243.The ninth Lord Kinnaird restored the ruined building in 1866 as an Episcopalian chapel. The chapel was subsequently designated a memorial chapel of the Kinnaird family.KinnairdIn medieval times Kinnaird was a dependant chapel of Inchture. The present building was built in 1815 and renovated in 1890.Inchture and KinnairdAfter the union of Inchture and Kinnaird in 1941 both churches were used for worship.
