ActivityDavid Greig, surgeon, father of David Greig, F.R.C.S., was made a burgess of Dundee on 15 December 1831 by right of his father John Greig, Agent of Dundee Rope Work Company. David Greig, F.R.C.S., father of David M. Greig, was consulting surgeon to the Dundee Royal Infirmary and also served as assistant surgeon in the Crimea, and died in 1899. David Middleton Greig, after graduation, worked for the Perth Asylum, the Army Medical Staff, served in the Forfarshire Volunteers, and in the R.A.M.C.(T) during the South African campaign. He returned to Dundee to be senior surgeon in the Dundee Royal Infirmary, lecturer in anatomy at University College, Dundee, medical superintendent at Baldovan Institution, surgeon to the Royal Victoria Hospital, lecturer in clinical surgery at St. Andrews University. He was made a burgess of Dundee on 13 December 1920 prior to his appointment as Conservator of the Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He died on 4 May 1936.
