ActivityThe Clan Scott Society, Inc was previously known as Clan Scott, USA and Clan Scott Society of the Americas. Its aims are to cultivate a spirit of kinship among society members throughout the world; to honor Scottish heritage and to preserve customs and traditions; to collect and preserve literary, historical and genealogical records and documents relating to the history of the Clan Scott or to Scotland; to further the development and preservation of traditional music and dance through the funding of scholarships; and to foster better cooperation and understanding between the North American continent and the Borders area of Scotland, the traditional homeland of the Clan Scott. The Clan Scott newsletter is called the Stag and Thistle.Any person meeting the following requirements may join: be eighteen years or older; bear the surname Scott, or one of the following septs, however spelled: Buccleuch, Harden, Balwearie, Geddes, Laidlaw, Langlands, Napier or a name originating from Roxburghshire or the eastern Borders of Scotland; or be directly connected by descent or marriage to such a name. Although Clan Scott is based in the USA, members may reside anywhere in the world. Spouse and unmarried children under the age of 18 automatically become members.
