ActivityAimers McLean & Co Ltd, Galashiels, mill and dyework machinery manufacturers, were successors to Lees and Aimers, millwrights, who were known to have been consulted by the Burgh of Selkirk in 1744. The firm were based at the Waverley Iron Works, Galashiels and produced mill and dyework machinery mainly in the Borders but also as far afield as New Zealand. The contracts they undertook ranged from: wood turning lathes for Govan Parish School Board 1901; machinery for Nyasirori Gold Mine, Tanganyika 1925-1928; and public wash houses in Edinburgh. The company ceased trading prior to 1984.
