ActivityThe Hawick Archaeological Society was founded on the 16th September 1856 and is still active. Its object is ‘the dissemination of antiquarian knowledge among its members, the elucidation of the antiquities and natural history of the surrounding district and the support of the Hawick Museum’. The society is composed of Annual, Honorary, and Life Members. Annual members currently pay a fee of five pounds. The office bearers are: President; Vice-President; Past-Presidents; Secretary; Treasurer; Sub-Secretaries and a Librarian; and a committee of nine members. Five members are elected to represent the society on the Hawick Museum Committee.
