ActivityRoberton Parish reaches from the outskirts of Hawick to the boundary with Dumfriesshire, and was previously known as Borthwick, Borthwick Water and Kirk Borthwick, however as the church lay in the village of Roberton the parish became called Roberton parish. The first recorded building was mediaeval, and lay at the site of Borthwick Wa’s graveyard. The first parish church was built in 1659. The present church building, which opened in 1864, is at the east end of the village. The parish was formed originally from part of Selkirkshire, Hawick, and Wilton and Hassendean parishes.
