Brief Description | Silver plated (?) iron dagger, with looped handle and punctate decoration along centre of blade. The punctate decoration features chevrons, zig-zags, triangle and arrow shapes. The blade is wide at the top and tapers to a fine point. The looped handle is directly attached to the blade, and also features punctate and incised decoration of zig-zags and cross hatching. The dagger was originally thought to have been designed for archers, so that the blade could be held pointing downwards on the same hand used to pulling the string of the bow. |
