Brief Description | Pair of men's knee or arm bands, re-worked into a boys belt. Made of hide, cut into rows. Each row wrapped with quills dyed in commercial dye. Block design on a red background. All the rows have been sewn back together again with cotton thread. Bottom edge of each fringe row decorated with tin jingle/cone and dyed purple feathers. Red ribbon ties. Purple, yellow, green and natural white design on red background. Worn at formal events e.g. Pow-wows. Circa 1880 |
