Brief DescriptionCurved headband forming part of a headdress assemblage (recorded originally as breast ornament) made of vegetable fibre with shell decoration. The fibre appears to be wound round strips of something hard - there are twelve of these tightly bound together at an angle to form the curved shape. The outer edges on the top side have a double row of small, overlapping white shell beads - the inner top side has one row. Randomly spaced rows of the white shell beads run diagonally across the top side - the fibre is painted black at points. Each shell is perforated and attached with continuous lengths of vegetable fibre. A separate 'handle' is tied on to the back at either end and knotted in the centre for placing over the head(?) This example is not as well made nor as evenly decorated as ABDUA:1588. A small paper label reads "85+3" on both sides.
