Brief Description | Amulet case in dark brown, black and light green dyed leather. There are two metal (?) containers, one rectangular and one cylindrical, suspended horizontally to a six-stranded twisted cord. The containers are covered in dark brown leather on the long sides, with some 'X' shaped tooling to the leather on the rectangular amulet, and ribbed banding on the cylindrical container. The short ends of both containers are decorated with geometrical patterns cutout of black leather, and backed with the light green leather. There are also sections of woven black and green leather at the bottom of the suspension cord, where it attaches to both of the containers. The containers are heavy, and are sealed, so it is likely that they still contain the original items concealed inside. Perhaps the cases have some religious association, and may contain sections of scripture from the Koran similar to other amulet containers held in the collection. |
