Object History NoteSee note in file regarding provenance and recent re-identification. Re-identified by Andrew. D. Turner (Senior Curator of Archaeology, University of Cambridge) on 08/08/2019 as probably not of Aztec or Zapotec origin, but possibly instead an early 20th century piece. The design and features of the face may have been copied from that of the 'Aztec Calendar Stone' or 'Piedra del Sol' in the Museo Nacional de Antropologia, Mexico City.
