| Brief Description | Brass and figurative staff with iron hook below. The top of the iron hook is wrapped with cast brass imitating four rows of plaited cord. Atop the rows is a large male figure of an elder (possibly Yoruba?), wearing cropped trousers with a thick plaited belt loop, and two long knives suspended from the belt at the left hip. The figure is shirtless, and wearing two small 'U-shaped' bags wrapped across the body in an 'X-shape'. The figure holds a small hooked staff in his right hand and holds his left hand over his heart. The figure has a long beard styled in to bunches and wears a tall headdress consisting of four twisted sections meeting at the top. |
