<dc:title>Letter from Amelia Nyasa Laws to her relatives</dc:title>
<dc:description>Letter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, Valence, to her relatives, regarding starting at the annexe; problems with the commandant who wants approval to go through Paris; this is solved by Mme. Delattre, who says that Amelia will start anyway, pending approval; this is a good thing as the Parisian approval now applies even to Red Cross hospitals, so would have been an obstacle wherever she went; she is to stay in the garret of the annexe, a lovely room and much better than Mlle. Combe's, just above the kitchen; description of the room and promise of description of the annexe later; problems with sorting out her papers now that she was to stay, but the commandant will assist her; she has handed over her ration books to the econome at the annexe, so is fully established there, though there is still a good deal of paperwork taking up her time; the food is good and plentiful, and there is even milk; the nun is 'an original character'; there is also Michel, the infirmier and general factotum, with whom she must get on well; the nun controls the kitchen; thanks for birthday wishes; the paperwork is finally finished and she moves in to the garret soon; details of furnishing, which is of the make-do-and-mend type; help from Michel with the cleaning; late arrival of eleven stretcher cases has made her sleepy; the doctor, Lavoiepierre, is a younger version of Dr. Michaud and is kind with the men.
