  <dc:title>Correspondence, circulars: Lord Fife</dc:title>
<dc:description>Correspondence, circulars etc. of Lord Fife mainly concerning militia:
Local-Militia: Lord Moira, Lord Huntly, Lord Hawkesbury (see below), Alexander Mackay, Charles Yorke, Francis Garden of Troup, General Return of yeomanry and volunteer corps, Banffshire.
Place: William Duff.

Copy letter to Lord Hawkesbury from Lord Fife dated 22 June 1804 forwarding letter from Garden of Troup (not included), one of his Deputy Lieutenants who has built "at his own private expense a Fort in a situation on his own Estate extremely well calculated to annoy an Enemy and commanding a Bay into which Trading vessels would be apt to run for protection from Privateers should any appear on this Coast". Fife supports his request for additions to the Battery Company in Banff "in order that I may be enabled to send the detachment he wants with an officer to take charge of the Fort in question". This copy letter is attached to a letter to Lord Moira asking him to review the details of the letters to see if it meets with his approval.</dc:description>
