<dc:title>Letter from Sir William Forbes to George Glennie, from Edinburgh</dc:title>
<dc:description>Thanks to Mrs Glennie for her information of Beattie's early life. Has obtained from William Hayley, through Lord Glenbervie, an unpublished "letter of Cooper's [i.e. William Cowper] in which that remarkable person speaks of the 'Minstrel' and of Dr. Beattie in the highest terms of admiration". Further describes his researches on Beattie.

Forbes's extract from this and another letter by Cowper [both since published] is in MS 30/43.</dc:description>
