<dc:title>Robert Arbuthnot to James Beattie from Newhall</dc:title>
<dc:description>Thanks Beattie for copy of poems. Particuolar praise of additional stanzas to 'Retirement'. Also 'Epistle to Blacklock' though a few lines more acrimonius than he wishes. 'Pygmies' praised. Mrs Montagu pointed out particular beauties in poems, but surprised Beattie omitted Lucretius translation 'Epitaph on two Brothers' and Imitation of Old Scots Song 'Sweet Annie'. Glad Beattie's studying Italian and still has intention to translate Tasso.</dc:description>
