William Cameron to James Beattie from Belfield Received Beattie's letter of 15 May [concerning Psalmody], and wrote to Dr Blair accordingly. Blair approves Beatie's scheme, and thinks Beattie better qualified to carry it out. The composition so far transmitted to the committee does not combine simplicity with elegance. If Beattie would send some specimens, they would afford hope that the undertaking was not desperate. Poetical talents not Hebrew learning are wanted, and Beattie can provide this 10 June 1778
