<dc:title>Elizabeth Montagu to James Beattie from London</dc:title>
<dc:description>Consigned the charming Minstrel to Dilly with great satisfaction. Beattie has added many fine stanzas, and she likes the conclusion though it does not belong to the subject. Mrs Montagu has never heard of Dr Law as a writer. Thinks Beattie would do best to neglect him. Longs to see Essay on Laughter. Hurd spoke of Beattie to Mrs Montagu with great esteem, and did not utter a word against the subscritpion. Mrs Montagu approves of Beattie declining professorship at Edinburgh. Does not think he would be happy there.</dc:description>
