  <dc:title>To William Laing from Aberdeen</dc:title>
<dc:description>Sending Boyer's Dictionary, and Prayer book. Laing to keep Ainsworth [probably Robert Ainsworth, Thesaurus linguae latinae compendiarus (London, 1736)]. Beattie generally well, but James Hay Beattie supplies his place in mornings if he has a cough. James Hay Beattie well pleased with his business, and he has been writing some lectures. James Hay Beattie also visits Pierian Spring, and has finished a translation of Pope's 'Messiah' not inferior to 'Elegy on unfortunate Lady'. Beattie and James Hay Beattie have supplied new words to 'Soldier's Song', each writing one verse [text in letter]. Could Mrs Arbuthnot send Clarendon's Life if she has not returned it to Mr Urquhart?</dc:description>
