  <dc:description>Small collection of papers of, and relating to, the Moir families of Stoneywood and Scotstown, Aberdeenshire. The collection, which was compiled chiefly by William Moir (b. 1855), son of John Forbes Moir (1821-1890) and Moira Waring (1828-1897), contains biographical information relating to members of the Moir families and collateral lines in the nineteenth century which is not given in the two printed histories of the Moirs (see Administrative History, above). It comprises a volume of poetry by John F. Moir, 1831-1842; a 'Plan of the Estate of Park lying in the parish of Drumoak and the Counties of Aberdeen and Kincardine', 1835, with plan and elevation of house, printed list of farms, tenants, land use and acreages; an envelope, extract from Bible (with date of marriage of John Forbes Moir and Moira Waring and dates of birth of children), and baptismal certificate of William Moir, 19th century; photographs of William Moir, 1857 and c. 1880; notes on history of family of Moir, c. 1908; handwritten account, mainly personal recollections, of Moirs of Scotstown by William Moir, 1914, including details of society in 19th century Aberdeen and Ceylon; genealogy of the Waring and Rabinel families, 1890 and early 20th century; genealogy of the Moirs of 'Stonywood' and 'Scotston' by G[wen] Moir, 1913.</dc:description>
