  <dc:description>Letters of Comprising raised at the instance of Alex. Forbes, eldest son and heir of John Forbes of Pitsligo, (with his consent), against Alex. Fraser of Carnebulg and his eldest son, Robert,(as fiar thereof). The Frasers had been bound to pay John Forbes ??5555 merks[for cumulative amount see later writs] on 17 Aug. 1615, (registered 2 July 1617), with interest at 10%, in which Forbes was to be infeft. Said Robert F. of Durrisbeltie had granted another bond of 26 June 1615 (reg 2 July 1617) to John Forbes for 666 merks with interest etc. as above. Both assigned by John Forbes to son Alex. on 23 Sept. 1617. As they remained unpaid, letters of apprising obtained and executed on 11 &amp; 13 Oct.1617. Mention is made of contract of 21 Oct. 1616 between Simon, Lord Fraser of Lovat (with Alex. Fraser and others), and Alex. Fraser of Cairnbulg and his son, Robert, anent disposition of Cairnbulg- see 70 for details. Messenger Gilbert Taylor duly compeared on 29th Oct. 1617 in Tolbooth of Aberdeen and constituted court of comprising etc. etc. Only above principal sums caimed with outstanding interest at 10 %. Some protestations and other counterclaims etc. detailed. Persons of inquest then proceeded to apprising with John Forbes of Gask as chancellor extending to sum of 8942 merks and 449 merks fees to messenger and colleagues with reservation respecting protestations allowed by James Ramsay anf  John |Findlay.
 Forbes to be infeft in lands etc. Instruments taken for John Forbes and his son, Alexander of this process by ?Thomas Crombie, W.S.,N.P. and ? clerk to the signet.This MS is attested by Thomas Crombie as being a just extract &amp; copy of proceedings from the register, with his sign manual appended.Old ref. 10,(25), (14).</dc:description>
