  <dc:description>Two of these sketchbooks were created during Carmichael's tours in Italy and Belgium, one contains a mixture of sites from these tours and sites in Scotland, whilst the remaining book contain sketches mainly taken from sites around Scotland. Sketches are in ink, pencil and watercolour and include samples of archictectural studies including detailed motifs and decorations, floorplans, and technical drawings with measurements. Sketchbook MS2380/1/3/2 is attributed to Charles Carmichael but not signed. </dc:description>
