<dc:title>Gregory family: papers of John Gregory (1724 - 1773): Letter from John Gregory (1724 - 1773) to Miss Gregory, St Andrews, regarding an ailment to her leg</dc:title>
<dc:description>Letter from John Gregory, Edinburgh, to his cousin, Miss Gregory, St Andrews [probably Catherine Gregory], concerning an ailment to her leg. He feels her leg is recovering but expects it to be a slow and fitful process. He advises her to drink a decoction of sasparilla before bed and before rising, adding 15 drops of an emetic wine to her night time drink, and increasing that by 5 drops at a time until it sickens her, then decreasing the dose.

He remarks that he is pleased with Captain Graham, describing him as a well-bred, sensible and worthy man, 15 January 1766. </dc:description>
