<dc:title>Draft report by Robert Beale to the Privy Council of England</dc:title>
<dc:description>Two folded sheets forming separate parts of a report by Beale on his activities as part of the English mission to the United Provinces. The first sheet [31/1] is headed '30 Maij' and has two endorsements: 'Leett[er]s into England' and 'To my l[ords] of the Counsell 4. Junij'. Five further pages of Beale's report are in MS 1009/1/26, and all the pages apparently belong with the letter MS 1009/1/24.

Abstract and notes by James D. George:
[MS 1009/1/31/1]:
Beale's hand. English. Continues Beale's account [...] of his proceedings for the period 3rd to 14th May 1576. Endorsed by Beale:
(1) 'Letters into England'
(2) 'To my ll. of ye Counsell 4 Junii'

[MS 1009/1/31/2]:
Beale to ? (draft). Beale's hand. English. The document, which is headed '30 Maij', continues Beale's day-to-day narrative[...]. It begins abruptly in the middle of an interview with the Prince of Orange, perhaps on the 14th May. The narrative covers the period 14th (?) to 21st May; the end is missing.

Notes:
No. 31 consists of two distinct papers, which I have designated 31A [now 31/2] and 31B [now 31/1].
31/2 is incomplete at beginning and end; 31/1 is complete at th beginning and apparently at the end also.
They were apparently folded together by Beale who made his endorsement on 31/1, though it relates to an earlier period than 31/2. Endorsement (1) was perhaps intended to cover the whole group of drafts [MS 1009/1/24, 26-28, and 31]. Endorsement (2) was perhaps intended to cover 31/1 and 31/2
