  <dc:description>Collection of letters, the majority addressed to Pryce Davies from various individuals on a variety of personal and business matters, some referring to his time as a medical student at Aberdeen. Includes letter of recommendation from Captain David Soutar, Dundee of the S.S. Intrepid and a letter from his father Edward Davies dated 25 February 1868 noting his disappointment that he has engaged himself as a surgeon on a whaling ship. Also includes a letter from his mentor Robert Collins (M.B., C.M. 1863) dated June and July 1864 and an invite to dinner, with a scribbled reply by Davies, dated 10 October 1866.

Small collection of papers including class certificates from the University of Aberdeen dated 1866-1867 [he began his medical studies on the 6 November 1866]. Also includes exam papers and notices and signed diploma stating that he was "qualified to practice experiments in Electro-Biology and Mesmerism, also to apply the power derived from a knowledge of Animal Magnetism, to the relief of pain, or the cure of disease" signed by  Professor G.W. Stone, April 1866. </dc:description>
