<dc:title>Journals of army events in the Peninsula</dc:title>
<dc:description>Collection of thirteen journals written by James McGrigor recording his experiences during the Peninsular War. They begin with his arrival in Lisbon in early 1812 and end in June 1813 when the battle of Vitoria took place. The entries record his thoughts on conditions in the various hospitals and the extent of the medical facilities available. The journals also offer an insight into the various illnesses suffered by the troops and include his notes on the reports received from the hospital stations, highlighting some of the difficulties they experienced on a regular basis.</dc:description>
