The volume begins with a statement of the account of the Library of Reference as of the 22 July 1822, but records donations and disbursements on books and other expenditure from 1813-1831. The first entry notes a donation from Sir James McGrigor of £15 on the 5 November 1813. A statement of the account of the benevolent fund is included for the period 1840-1861, as is the account for the carpet and other furnishings for the hall for the period 1844-1847 when the balance was carried over to the building account. A statement of the account for repairs carried out to the building begins on page 16 and covers the period 1844-1862. There follows several blank pages before the account for repairs to the building begins again (on page 51), but starting from 1823 and ending in 1844. There follows:
