ActivityTorwoodlee Golf Club, Galashiels was founded in 1895 as an offshoot of the Galashiels Club. Thirty seven acres of land were leased from Captain Pringle of Pringle Estates and Willie Park jnr, the Musselburgh Golf Club professional, designed the layout of the 9 holed course. A clubhouse was transported from Dunfermline and erected in the middle of the course, 1898. Later bunkers were added at four of the last five holes and various other alterations were made to the course in the early 1900s and in 1925. A new clubhouse was built in 1932 next to the first hole and Mrs Pringle, who had driven the first ball on the course, performed the opening ceremony. The club purchased the land in 1972 with the help of a grant from the Scottish Sports Council. In 1977 a new watering system was installed and in the following year the clubhouse was extended and improved. In 1995 the course was extended to 18 holes.
