ActivityA younger son of the 8th Duke of Argyll, Lord Archibald Campbell was born in 1846 and educated at Edinburgh Academy, Eton and Gottingen. He served as Captain in the 5th. Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, then entered business life in 1864 to act as a partner in the banking company, Coutts and Co. He was a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant of Argyllshire. His interests included history, particularly early Scottish military history, and he published some works on the subject. He lived in Norbiton, Surrey, and died in 1913.
