In 1972 the two divisions separated and the National Union of Printing, Bookbinding and Paper Workers (NUPBPW) retained the name Society of Graphical and Allied Trades (SOGAT). (NATSOPA became the National Society of Operative Printers, Graphical and Media Personnel). In 1975 the Society became SOGAT 1975 following amalgamation of the Scottish Graphical Association.
