ActivityRonald Stevenson (b 1928) was born in Blackburn on 6 March 1928 and studied at the Royal Manchester College of Music, 1945-1947, and at the Conservatori di Santa Cecilia in Rome, 1956. He taught at Boldon Colliery School, Durham 1950-1952. From 1956 he settled in West Linton, Scottish Borders and taught at various Edinburgh schools. From 1963-1965 he was senior lecturer in composition at the University of Cape Town. He has travelled the world advocating the music of Busoni (1866-1924), Grainger (1882-1961) and Paderewski (1860-1941), as well as his own work. His compositions include 'Passacgalia', 1963, 'Border Boyhood', 1971, 'Piano Concertos', 1966, 1972, 'The Gypsy', 1992.
