ActivitySir Norman Lamont 2nd Bart (1869-1949), politician, was educated at Winchester and Downton College of Agriculture, his father was Sir James Lamont 1st Bart of Knockdow (1828-1913) and Sir Norman succeeded his father in 1913. His brother, Alexander's(1872-1897) wife was called Augusta.Lamont was Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, 1906-1908 and to the Board of Trade, 1909, and he was Hon Sec to the Scottish Liberal Association, 1904-1908 and MP for Buteshire, 1905-1910. He was a member of the Legislative Council of Trinidad, 1915-1923 and a Governor of the Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture, 1921-1945. Lamont wrote on various subjects, including 'Problems of the Antilles' (1912); 'A Catalogue of Trinidad Moths' (1927); 'Problems of Trinidad' (1933).
