ActivityDavid Carnegie of Kinnaird and Colluthie was born in 1575 and succeeded to the family estates in 1598. He received a knighthood in 1603 and a year later he was appointed one of the commissioners to consult upon a union between England and Scotland by parliament. Sir David supported the King's policy of assimilating the Scottish church government with that of England and played an active part in ecclesiastical matters throughout his life. In 1616, he was created Lord Carnegie of Kinnaird and in 1633 he was elevated to the Earldom of Southesk on the coronation of Charles I at Holyrood. He died in 1658.
