ActivityJames Mackintosh was born in Aberdeen in 1887 and educated at Banff and Fordyce Academies and the University of Edinburgh, graduating MA in 1922. He fought in the First World War and was wounded three times. He then attended New College, Edinburgh, and was licensed and ordained in 1924. He was appointed Professor of English Language and Literature at Wilson College, Bombay, before being inducted to Newtonmore parish in 1922. In 1946 he was made librarian at Trinity College, Glasgow.
