ActivityJohn Murray was born in Aberdeen in 1858, attended Aberdeen Grammar School, and graduated from Aberdeen University in 1878. He was apprenticed to the advocate David Stewart and in 1886 became his partner and was admitted a member of the Society of Advocates in Aberdeen. In 1890 he was admitted a notary public, and became a JP in 1932. Three of his children also graduated from Aberdeen University, and he died in 1944 while his son and business partner was a prisoner of war.
