ActivityGeorge ‘Taffy’ Davidson was born in Aberdeen in 1893, and educated at Aberdeen Grammar School. He proceeded to Gray’s School of Art where he received his diploma, and exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy. He was badly wounded in action during the First World War. He held a senior fellowship in arts and crafts at Aberdeen University when he was appointed, in 1956, curator of the Highland Folk Museum at Kingussie, at that time owned and run by the four ancient Scottish universities. He was also curator of pictures for Aberdeen University. He took a keen interest in folk music and amassed a considerable collection of manuscripts and books on the subject. In later life he lived in Old Aberdeen, and died in hospital in 1976. His collection was dispersed by auction.
