ActivityEyemouth Methodist Church was established in about 1830 and the early members worshipped in each other's houses until using a disused soapworks in Chapel Street. The first trustees meeting was held in 1835 and a building was erected in St Ella's Wynd that year. The congregation dwindled for a time and in 1848 there were only ten members. In 1859 the Rev John Snaith became the minister and in the wake of the Evangelical revival of 1860 the congregation numbers soared. In 1875 the church became self-supporting and became disconnected from the Berwick circuit. In 1881, the Eyemouth fishing disaster took the lives of 25 members and several adherents and the circuit had to be rejoined in 1893. The present building was opened in 1905, thanks, initially to a bequest. From 1921 to 1933, due to prosperity in the town through the good fishing, the church was independent again. A pipe organ was installed in 1950.
